Dlaczego po „when” nie ma „will” — angielski nie ma czasu przyszłego
Why there is no 'will' after 'when' — English has no future tense
Zasady
Kiedy używamy
- Po when, while, as, before, after, until/till, as soon as, once, by the time, the moment, every time, whenever — mówiąc o przyszłości używamy Present Simple, nigdy will/going to (I'll text you when I land.)
- Zdanie główne zachowuje pełne prawo do will, going to, may, might, imperatywu — ograniczenie dotyczy WYŁĄCZNIE zdania czasowego (When the results come out, I'm going to celebrate.)
- Kolejność zdań jest dowolna i nie zmienia zasady; zmienia tylko interpunkcję — przecinek stawiamy, gdy zdanie czasowe stoi na początku (Once you've signed, we can proceed. / We can proceed once you've signed.)
- Zakaz obejmuje też peryfrazę 'be going to' i 'will have done' — bo one również niosą oznaczenie przyszłości (nie: after he is going to leave, nie: when I will have finished)
- W kontekście przeszłym działa lustrzana zasada: zdanie czasowe bierze Past Simple, nie 'would' (He promised he'd write when he got there. — nie: when he would get there)
- Zasada nie ma nic wspólnego z uprzejmością ani rejestrem — obowiązuje tak samo w SMS-ie, jak w akcie prawnym

Kiedy „will” po „when” JEST poprawne — zdanie okolicznikowe kontra rzeczownikowe
When 'will' after 'when' is perfectly correct — adverbial vs nominal clauses
Zasady
Kiedy używamy
- Zdanie rzeczownikowe (dopełnienie czasownika typu know/wonder/ask/decide) — will jak najbardziej: I wonder when they'll announce the result.
- Zdanie okolicznikowe (odpowiada na pytanie „kiedy?” i da się usunąć) — bez will: I'll email you when they announce the result.
- Po przyimku zawsze stoi zdanie rzeczownikowe, więc will jest dozwolone: It all depends on when the funding comes through / on when they'll release the funds.
- Ten sam podział obowiązuje przy if: warunkowe „if” bez will, pytanie zależne „if/whether” z will (I'm not sure if she'll agree.)
- Present Perfect w zdaniu czasowym podkreśla zakończenie przed punktem odniesienia; Present Simple jest neutralny (When you've read it, pass it on. / When you read it, you'll understand.)
- Formalne, wolitywne „will/would” po if w prośbach (If you would kindly wait here) to relikt znaczenia woli, nie oznaczenie przyszłości

before / after — przestrzeń zamieniona w czas i pułapka nierzeczywistego „before”
before / after — space turned into time, and the trap of the unreal 'before'
Zasady
Kiedy używamy
- before + zdanie: czynność zdania głównego wyprzedza tę w zdaniu czasowym (Check the figures before you send the report.)
- before + could/had a chance to = „zanim zdążył”, zdarzenie NIE nastąpiło (He rang off before I could ask about the price.)
- before licencjonuje any/ever/at all — dowód, że kontekst jest nierozstrzygnięty (Let's slip out before anyone notices.)
- after + zdanie: czynność zdania czasowego jest wcześniejsza i jest stwierdzona jako fakt (After the results came out, the phone didn't stop ringing.)
- Past Perfect po before/after jest opcjonalny i podnosi rejestr; po when bywa znaczeniowo decydujący (When I had read the contract, I refused to sign.)
- by the time + Present Simple (przyszłość) / Past Simple (przeszłość), a w zdaniu głównym Future Perfect lub Past Perfect
- before i after działają też jako przyimki (before lunch) i przysłówki (I'd seen it before) — spójnikiem są tylko wtedy, gdy następuje po nich całe zdanie

Zasady

- not… until = „dopiero”: The letter didn't arrive until the following week.
- Not until… + inwersja operatora = emfaza literacka: Not until much later did we realise what had happened.
- since + punkt startowy, zdanie główne w Present Perfect: I've been sleeping better since I stopped drinking coffee after four.
- since bywa przyczynowe — rozstrzyga czas zdania głównego (Since you're already here, you might as well help.)
- by ≠ until: by wyznacza nieprzekraczalny termin dla jednego zdarzenia, until rozciągłość aż do granicy

- the moment / the minute / the instant + zdanie = emfatyczne „w chwili, gdy”

- whenever = za każdym razem, gdy… albo obojętnie kiedy (Drop in whenever you're passing.)
- whilst = brytyjski, formalny wariant while; w AmE praktycznie nieużywany
- Zdanie czasowe na początku (rama, przecinek) kontra na końcu (nowa informacja, bez przecinka)
- W kontekście przeszłym zdanie czasowe bierze Past Simple/Past Perfect, nigdy would (I knew I'd feel better once I'd slept.)
